CLIFF AVENUE UNITED FC 2008 Player Placement Camps
Placement camps are held each spring for the U11-U18 age groups to determine team placement for the fall season. We will make every effort to place all kids on teams however placement is not guaranteed if your child doesn’t attend placement camps. Registration for placement camps is not required.
Professional coaches will be assisting our coaching staff with the assessment of all player to provide for objective player evaluations. Below are the coaches/coordinators for the relevant age groups.
All placement camps will be held at Bby North Turf field-located at Fell Avenue and Frances Street.
PLEASE ARRIVE 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE START OF THE CAMP TO SIGN IN.

Spring Development Program
Cliff Avenue will be offering a Spring Development program for the U6-U10 boys and girls again this Spring. All training sessions will take place at Confederation grass fields. The focus of the Spring Development Program will be on player development with small sided games. There will be no set teams as all players will be integrated within the age group.

For those who have been invited, you can now register for via the Registration link on the left. The Academy starts April 2008.
Scholarships for 2008
Cliff Avenue United Football Club awards scholarships each year in recognition of academic achievement and community/school service combined with soccer participation. Scholarships will be a minimum of $1000 and up to a maximum of $1500. To be eligible, an applicant must be:
- In Grade 12 at a British Columbia High School; and
- A registered player with Cliff Avenue United Football Club for the current season and for at least one prior season.

Cliff Avenue United FC is now accepting coaching applications for the 2008/2009 season. Application deadlines have been set as identified below.
- Gold & Metro Coaches: January 20, 2008
- Silver & Bronze Coaches: February 20, 2008

Cliff Avenue United FC is celebrating its 51st year serving as Burnaby’s largest Girls & Boys Soccer Club. Our Club, in conjunction with a variety of community sponsors including Canlan Ice Rinks, Dundee Wealth Management and The Province of BC, is pleased to provide Burnaby Girls and Boys ages 5 –18 with the broadest avenue to enjoy and learn to play “The Beautiful Game”.
The leadership, governance and strong commitment of the many volunteers within Cliff Avenue United FC have allowed our Club to grow in only four years from a membership of 900 to over 1,600 Girls and Boys. We are poised and well positioned to continue to provide vision and a path for the youth community within Burnaby with an avenue to learn, have fun, develop and excel in the world of soccer.
Cliff Avenue United FC continues to forge forward by providing the broadest array of programs including Goal Keeping Clinics, Speed & Agility Clinics and Coaching Seminars. Our House League programs for girls and boys includes the Excel Soccer Player Development Program (Girls & Boys ages 8-11) as well as Ultimate Pre-Season Soccer Camps (Girls & Boys ages 5-7).
Today we are pleased to announce our vision for the next 50 years. This phase of expansion will continue to ensure that both Girls and Boys in Burnaby have the opportunity to enjoy, develop, and learn more about the game of soccer.
Cliff Avenue United FC is pleased to introduce Tony Fonseca as our Technical Director. Tony brings with him a wealth of experience which includes recently leading the Vancouver Whitecaps Academy Program. Prior to this, Tony was an active Vancouver Whitecap both as player and coach. Tony also has extensive experience dating back to his professional soccer tenure in Europe, playing a number of years in the Portuguese First division with teams that include Benfica of Lisbon, Vitoria Guimares, and Estrala da Amadora. Tony’s responsibilities will include working with all coaches within Cliff Avenue as well as the launching our Academy Program scheduled for October, 2007.
Tony Fonseca will have working with him a complement of staff coaches including Nick Dasovic, a former member of the Canadian Men’s National Team and the Vancouver Whitecaps. Nick has also played in Europe, including Scotland and Croatia. Nick is not new to Cliff Avenue as he has been providing guidance to our volunteer coaches at all levels over the last year.
We are pleased to have Tony and his team on-board as we continue to provide an enjoyable soccer experience to the girls and boys in Burnaby. Our legacy and strong traditions over the past 50 years serve as our foundation as we look forward to our next 50 years of continued growth and enjoyment of “The Beautiful Game” .
Goalie Camps
It is important that we encourage as many of our players as possible to attend our goalkeeper clinics. Every one our goalies should attend at least two of the sessions. The clinic is open to all kids from U9 to U18 and provided by the club at no charge to the players.
Different sessions are provided for the U9 to U11 age group and the U12 to U18 age groups. See either the House League or Divisional links for more information on the times and locations of these camps.

Note to U13 - U18 Coaches
We are always seeking more referees for our club. Please let your players know. The club will pay for training costs for referees and it’s a great way for them to earn some extra money.

Mission Statement
Cliff Avenue United FC is a youth soccer club for boys and girls of all abilities. We strive to create an atmosphere of fun, equality, fairness and fair play. We will endeavour to make our youth appreciate the game of soccer and teach them life skills such as team work, commitment, dedication, personal acheivement and physical fitness. We will foster an atmosphere of development for all players, coaches, referees and administrators so that they may achieve their highest potential based on their own skill and desire.

Cliff Avenue United FC has recently adopted new policy and guidelines for all team apparel. This includes track suits, sweats, jackets, etc. To accomodate this new policy we've sourced out some excellent apparel at very competitive pricing.
All apparel requires a minimum order of 12 items, and pricing includes embroidered cresting. There are some guidelines that you should familiarize yourself with. These are located in the Documents & Forms section of the website and also summarized on the order form below.
